Cold War Military Compass, Western Russia evasion / survival silk map, a non-fiction book with accounts of the cold war missions and an Air Force survival knife
1- U.S. Military Compass Dated 11-59
Manufactured by Waltham Precision Instrument Co; Waltham Mass.
All parts intact, compass dial floats and rotates properly, the lens is a little foggy
2- U.S Air Force Cloth (silk) Chart Published Jan 1950 (excellent condition)
CL202 (Ural River region) and CL203 (Lake Balkash region)
41-58 Degree/ Lat 44-88 degree Long
This silk map covers western Russia primarily for use in survival / evasion. Map folds to 3-1/2" x 5-1/4" x 3/8" thick. Opens to approximately 39" wide x 41" tall. Map is scaled at 1:2,000,000. Section CL202 on one side, CL203 the other
3- NON-Fiction Book "By Any Means Necessary" authored from archives /records and crew interviews with the men who flew these cold war missions by historian William E. Burrows covering accounts from the Cold War era to the Russia/US standoff (approx. 400 pages)
4- Air Force Survival Knife (Never used, never sharpened)
This is an Ontario 499 US Military Issue Knife with stacked leather handle, riveted leather sheath/stone pouch, sharpening stone, and dual leg tie-downs. Although I have had this knife over 30 years, it is not from the Cold War--Note: these knives are NOT dated.
