I am selling a breeding pair of registered Mulefoot. This is the rarest swine breed in America and is renowned for its amazing tasting gourmet pork. This is a registered and proven non-related breeding pair. Multiple litters together, and throw great pigs. This is a rare opportunity to either raise amazing meat or be part of seeing a critically endangered breed called the mulefoot hog, or mule foot for some folks, get back on the map. If you are wanting to breed I will help you learn more about how to become a registered breeder, and successfully raise this amazing pig. The boar and sow can also be sold separately.
This of course is a heritage breed, and Mulefoot hogs are a critically endangered breed of heritage pig. The only way to save these animals is to eat them! Which is kind of is counterintuitive. It goes like this with heritage breeds though. The more we eat them the more they are raised. That creates the demand and the number of people raising them increases.
So please, research the mulefoot pig. You will find with some research that this pork is rated the number one type of pork over and over again. Also, it is noted that top culinary experts seek this breed out for their delicious cuts. The cuts are well-marbled and as a result, it brings out more flavor and also keeps the meat moist as it cooks.
These pigs are raised on pasture. If you follow the movement of healthy eating you would be able to read more about "beyond organic" farming. As you read, this is also called by some folks the "Joel Salatin" style. We do rotate them and they are raised without hormones or antibiotics.
I can be reached by text.
We tend to have a wait-list as it comes to registered piglets, so the earlier you can contact me the better! If you are looking for Mulefoot piglets please let me know I can figure out the best timing to get those. Breeding stock piglets at $300. $125 for feeder piglets.
We can also drop hogs right to the butcher for your pickup, this needs to be planned about 10-12 months ahead however as anything we are growing out already is spoken for,
Thanks so much!
